Halloween Smiles

It is hard to believe that Halloween is fast approaching!  So I thought I would share a picture from my pumpkin carving day with my kids.  As we were spending some time together getting into the holiday mode, I of course was trying to recreate a “Norman Rockwell” family moment, as mothers I think sometimes we want that perfect scene.  Do we get it? Or do we make our selves and sometimes our families crazy trying to achieve “perfect”?  Enjoy the moment is what we should be doing!  Happy Halloween!

Pikes Peak Classic and National Solo Dance Championships

Wow! The Pikes Peak Classic and National Solo Dance Championships were amazing in Colorado Springs!  I want to “Thank” Janna Blanter and Kim Hennessy from the Broadmoor Skating Club for inviting us to this wonderful event and to the rink staff for their help during this event.

Where to start, first it was wonderful to see so many friends from all over and to meet so many new people too.  Todd Gilles and Emily Samuelson stopped by to say “Hi” before they left to go to Michigan to continue their training.  We wish them safe travels and all the best with their training!

We also had a friendly face return to us, Olga from Delaware, who I first met at State Games of America 2009 at the Arena.  Olga was brought back to us by Carolyn Kruse, of the Broadmoor Skating Club, because her daughter did not have a dress to compete in, due to the Airlines losing her skates and luggage. (Check out the full story by Jo Ann Schneider Farris at About.com)  Carolyn took Olga and her daughter Jordan Noelle McCreary to our booth early that morning before we got there and Carolyn found a dress for Jordan to wear.  Thank you Carolyn and we are happy that Jordan had a dress to compete in.  Congratulations to Jordan for finishing what she set out to do, even when a challenge was placed in front of her.

Where are we next?  We will be at the 2012 Midwestern Sectional Figure Skating Championships hosted by the Fort Collins Figuring Skating Club. November 15 - 19, 2011.  The event will be held at the Edora Pool Ice Center (EPIC), 1801 Riverside Drive, Fort Collins, CO 80525

The holidays are coming, are you ready?  We have great gifts for your skater and coach, we also offer gift certificates.

For clubs that are hosting events, feel free to contact us for great gift ideas for your officials.

Colorado Springs Invitational Competition!

So much excitement at the Colorado Springs Invitational competition!

In case you haven’t heard by now, Brandon Mroz landed a quad Lutz at the 2011 Colorado Springs Invitational, a U.S. Figure Skating sanctioned nonqualifying competition.  Click Here to SEE the You Tube Video by Local Motion Production Inc.

As if that wasn’t enough excitement, thanks to our friend Bonnie Gilles who stopped by to say “Hi” we were able to meet her son Todd Gilles and had the pleasure of meeting Olympian Emily Samuelson, who recently announced their newly formed partnership.  They are going to train in Ann Arbor, Michigan, coached by Nechaeva and Chesnichenko.  We wish them all the best and look forward to seeing them Dance in the future, Good Luck and stay in touch!

We also had a blast watching Skater and Coach Shay Frank in her Artistic competition.  Love the costume!  Along with all the amazing skaters that stopped by to say “Hi” and show us their dress’s, medals and ribbons!  Congratulations to ALL the competitors, we hope you had a great time at CSI!

I want to thank Lisa Landon, with Centennial Skating Club for inviting us back again this year!  We had a great time and want to thank all of the members and volunteers for welcoming us and taking great care of us as always!  We hope this was a successful competition for you as well!  I would also like to thank Will and his staff at the Sertich Ice Rink for all the hard work they do and making us feel at home.

In addition to all the skating, The Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial service was held on Saturday, September 17 in Memorial Park in front of the Sertich Ice Arena.  Representatives of 87 fire departments from the U.S. and Canada presented flags to family members of firefighters who have died this past year.  It was something to see, from all the people and the procession of fire trucks and motorcycles that followed the fire truck to the memorial.

Where are we off to next?  We were invited to the Pikes Peak Classic for Pairs and Dance and The National Solo Dance Competition, to be held in Colorado Springs, hosted by the Broadmoor Skating Club, September 23-25, 2011.  If you are going to be there please stop by and say “Hi”.
